I was truly impressed by how each of my questions were addressed with both compassion and clear, easy to understand explanations. And the issues I had with pain in certain areas were addressed in like manner. The cleaning was truly 5-Star. Stacie removed all plaque and sanded down all areas that needed a deeper cleaning. She gave me wonderful directions on follow-up care and even noticed that a dental device installed to support my lower teeth was starting to fall off and therefore needed to be fixed. Acollades

I have a mouth full of issues. I knew that going in. I hate going to the dentist. However, I had an issue that meant I had no choice, and this place was recommended to me for periodontalwork. First of all, the woman that did my xrays and photographs was as chill as it gets and that put me at ease. She didn't talk to me like I was a puppy, and she didn't try to make things seem better than they were. Second, the Periodontist was straightforward and pithy. He explained everything well and answered all my questions. Just an outstanding experience all the way around. However, even though I know I need everything he listed in my care plan, I just plain can't afford it. I do not have that kind of money and will probably end up using a blender to grind all my food down so I can drink it through a straw. If I did have that kind of money, or if down the road I come into that kind of money, there is no doubt that I'd go back there to have it done. It's weird that health insurance will cover every other need, but considers replacing a tooth that was lost due to trauma "cosmetic". Anyway, I highly recommend this place for periodontal work.

My experience with Northern Colorado Periodontics was outstanding. From the front desk to the professional who performed the x-rays and educated me regarding the visit. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Weston Sands. The words that come to mind are skilled, competent, caring and compassionate to name a few. The entire staff was so professional and easy to interact with. It was apparent that they all have expertise not only in their job but also working together as a team. Dr. Schumacher was the best. He explains everything well, giving options, and is a professional in his area. I highly recommend you trust this group with your periodontal needs.

Let's face it, dealing with anything 'perio' is just no fun. I have had a 15 year old implant fail and my dentist highly recommended Northern Colorado Periodontics to help with solutions. My first procedure completed in their office turned out to be much more intensive and extensive than I had expected - I was put 'at ease' as the entire staff is warm, welcoming and professional. The crew truly works as a skillful team. In my case, they have already accomplished major (and not so fun) restorative tasks - all while doing so with a smile. So appreciated! UPDATE: The procedures I've undergone have included implant removal, tooth removal, grafting and implant setting. Each task has required healing time spreading my experience with No Co Periodontics over 1 1/2 years. From the kind guidance of the front office keeping me on task to the skilled experience of Dr. Allen fulfilling my goals one step at a time; I'm nearing full restoration. I feel so very fortunate to have had such a great group of individuals on my side!

I can’t say enough about how professional, competent, personable and courteous Dr. Shumaker and his staff are every time I go for my appointment. I always feel cared for as a person, not just as a client. The staff is wonderful from the front desk persons to the dental assistants. When I have had a tooth extraction in an infected area and tissue grafts on my gums, I was very nervous to have that done and the assistants went out of their way to add humor and comfort to those situations. Dr. Shumaker is simply the best Periodontist in my opinion - he works hard to make any procedure as comfortable as possible and has been excellent at diagnostic evaluations of my dental challenges. I do not dread coming for my cleanings and my teeth are always gently and thoroughly cleaned, without pain. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Shumaker and his staff. They are top-notch and worth the visit.

I was very nervous coming in. Jackie went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and less anxious. Dr. Allen gave me input every step of the way and it was one of the best dental procedures I have ever experienced. My mouth healed well and I am doing great. I cannot praise this team enough. And a special thank you to Jackie for her personal touch that means so much.

The procedure went well and all the staff were wonderful. Dr. Shumaker called a few hours later just to check up. The only issue I had was with the antibiotic Medication Amoxycillin. I vomited and had diarrhea. My body is sore and I am very tired. Not looking forward to the "soft" food diet for several weeks if I can keep it down.

I recently had need of a Periodontist. I woke up one morning in February, clenching my teeth together, HARD! The medical term for this is “bruxism”. Apparently, it is caused by stress. The result from this clenching was that I killed the roots in two teeth. This necessitated having those teeth extracted, and having my mouth prepared for implants next September by grafting bone into my jaw from some dead guy. Jada, who answered the phone, was as nice as could be! She got me in to see Dr. Shumaker within a short period of time, who quickly saw the problem and took care of it, extracting the two dead teeth with a minimum of effort. There was literally (and I know the meaning of this word!) no swelling or pain, except for the initial deadening injections. When I’ve told my friends of this experience, there were incredulous. Those who had teeth extracted before could not believe there was no purple and yellow bruising or pain. They all said “WHO did this for you?” I hope Dr. Shumaker will give me a discount for all the people who I referred his way. Simply put, this office REEKS of professionalism, from the moment you step inside until the moment you leave. I've been with Dr. Shumaker for 10 years now. I had extensive work done. Including, bone grafting, an implant and correcting major gum issues. The work was performed excellently. I have had no problems in 10 years. Much of the success was do to the excellent peridontal hygiene professionals. Finding Dr. Shumaker and the Northern Colo. Peridontics team was truly a blessing.

Dr. Allen, Suzzie( sure I spelled your name wrong and I apologize) and Jackie did an amazing job on my graft. This is my second one that Dr. Allen did for me. I knew that after my first one two years ago, that I wanted her to do my second one as well. I couldn't have asked for a better turnout. Dr. Allen and her team are very professional and very informative one what to expect after your surgery. In the middle of my second graft recovery as I write this review. I also appreciate the care and follow up call the evening after my surgery to see how I was doing. Thank you very much!!

The staff all greeted me with friendly smiles which immediately made me feel at home. My treatment requirements and details were explained by Doctor Allen and her friendly assistant Suzie. Brynn at the front desk made sure that I understood the schedule for future visits and procedures. All in all, a very pleasant experience. I will definitely recommend this practice to anyone wanting a good professional periodontic experience.

Dr Jessica Allen and her team in the FTC office are top notch! They truly care about their patients! I was assisted by Suzie, Jackie, and Bryn; they're all a bunch of wonderful professionals! After going through GTR surgery in their office, I was met with a cold compress and towel, along with a care package to take home; that along, really made a difference to me. Even though I had to go through a difficult procedure, they made the best of it and I'm thankful to each and every one of them! Thanks again ladies!

All of Northern Colorado Periodontics doctors and staff are amazing! They are always willing to answer any questions I might have and help put my anxiety at ease. I recently had a procedure for gum graphs and the lady tech could tell I was nervous. She kindly put an arm on my shoulder to comfort and support me. Great staff, from the front desk to the assistants and especially Dr. Shumaker! He did a great job extracting a very difficult tooth. Everyone made me feel comfortable and cared for and I felt I was in great hands the whole procedure. I really appreciated his post surgery phone call and text. I’m grateful I chose Dr. Shoemaker to take care of my gums! My oral surgery was this morning and I was immediately put at ease when I arrived. (I knew I was in good hands, but still arrived with some nerves.) All of my interactions with staff have been pleasant and encouraging, and I look forward my follow-ups!

I have been going to this office for several years. Dr. Shoemaker did a regraft on my gums and did a fantastic job! I get my teeth cleaned by Carrie routinely. I have extremely sensitive teeth and she is very careful with not hurting me at all. I won't go to anyone else, as she does such a fantastic job. She treats me with the utmost respect, is very professional, yet very personable!!! She has a fabulous chairside manner!! Stephanie in billing is pretty fantastic too, and very very knowledgeable! This office is very easily a 10 star place!!!

MEG gave me the most incredible cleaning in my entire life… and I have been going to dentists in Manhattan for over 50 years!!!!! I felt like I had a beautiful brand new set of teeth when I got up from her chair. MEG also gave me a few great tips on keeping my gums healthy and implants clean. It was such a wonderful (and painless) experience that I can hardly wait for her to clean my teeth again (as unbelievable as that may sound)!!! It was well with my trip down from Laramie. Dr. Nick and his team are exactly what is right with people and in the periodontal field today! My experience was flawless from beginning to end, and his staff is perfection. I am still healing from my surgery, but his work is exceptional. If you want it done right the first time, trust Dr. Nick and his entire team.

I was 10/10 happy with Dr. Shumaker, and excited to work with him. He was thorough and made me feel comfortable enough to trust him almost immediately. All this being said... they require full payment prior to any procedures/dental work, and they contract with 0 insurances. This has made my almost $20k treatment plan very hard to justify. I've spent hours on the phone with insurance going over codes, talked with the NCP office multiple times as well about financing, predetermination forms, etc. This is honestly a huge, huge downfall to the practice because I WANT to use Dr. Shumaker, but the no insurance contracting makes it almost impossible for any average person, unless you take out a loan, which seems crazy. There are contracting offices that I know contract, & my insurance will cover it at 100%. Just sad, honestly. I hope something works out so that I can still use Nick, but I'm doubtful at this point.

Just had my periodontal maintenance visit and discovered the hygenist was using two up-to-the moment advances, a new powdered per-cleaning spray and she had new glasses to see in my mouth without looking down(bad on her neck). Their up-to-date laser surgery eliminated a chronic infection and saved my implant! So glad I switched my dental care to this office.....

I was a little concerned about the surgery since I hadn't had any surprises since my childhood, but the doctors and their staff were thorough as to what to expect. Dr. Carillo called a few days prior to the surgery to go over and answered any questions that I had. All of this made me feel more relaxed. My surgery went very smoothly and better than what I had anticipated. Thank you so much.

Dr Jessica Allen and her surgical assistant Renee are amazing. They prioritized my physical and emotional comfort both before placing my implant and throughout the procedure. They are excellent professionally. They are also relatable and real, and they made the experience actually fun. Okay, maybe that was the nitrous, but I highly recommend Dr Allen and her team.

I'm not sure if anyone can love a trip to the dentist, l can't. That said my experience was very good. Teeth are the key to living well as one ages and my visit made me feel confident that the dental plan outlined is the best way for me to proceed. Everyone was excellent. I can't say I'm looking forward to this work but I'm confident in the outcome.

Dr. Allen and her staff are very warm and professional. With an implant surgery Dr. Allen paced the work so that I could have the most comfortable experience possible. Communication with Dr. Allen and her staff was very thorough. Recovery is happening very swiftly and all possible bases were covered with antibiotics, ice packs and pain meds. Very very pleased with this necessary experience.

I have a lot of anxiety around dental work. Dr Schumacher was patient and understanding. He suggested sedation for my tissue grafting surgery. The staff & Dr Schumacher made the procedure as pleasant as possible. This was my second procedure there and I will definitely go back if I need further treatment. It is a 4 hour trip for me so that should tell you how well I was treated. 😊

I had to have some gum grafting done, something I have had done previously with a different doctor. My experience this time was much better than the first. Doctor Allen and her team made sure I was all numbed up during the procedure and then covered the grafts with a putty-like substance. This helped substantially keep the pain levels down. I took 2, 200mg Ibuprofen 4 times the first day, worked my way down to 3 times a day for a few days, and then just twice a day for week or so. The "bandages" stayed on until my follow up when the stiches were moved. The gums look and feel good, so I'm happy with my experience at Northern Colorado Periodontics.

I recently moved to Colorado from out of state so this was my first visit and not last. Dr. Shumaker and his staff are respectful of their patients and were very thorough in verifying the condition of my periodontal disease. The office staff were professional and went over my insurance and costs. There weren’t any surprises. I already have my next appointment.

I had a tooth implant that went wrong, so I turned to Northern Colorado Periodontics for help. What a mistake I didn’t go to them in the first place! My experience has been a total 180. The staff are friendly, have fantastic office chair manors and know what they are doing. There is no doubt about it, they are all true professionals, and I highly recommend them.

Once again, I have to brag on Dr. Allen and her amazing staff!! I had a tooth that was bothering me, so I called, and they squeezed me in due to my pain. Dr. Allen looked at my x-ray and discovered two fractures and a large infection. Dr. Allen wanted me out of pain, so she worked me into the schedule that same day for an extraction and bone graph. The support staff at both her Fort Collins and Greeley offices are so caring and efficient. The assistant for my surgery was Adri. Wow! She helped me get through some of the more painful parts and kept encouraging me; super skilled and very kind. Employee of the year for sure! 🙂 If you are reading this review because you are seeking a great oral surgeon, look no further! I drive from Cheyenne to see Dr. Allen and it is sooooo worth it!

Dr Paris took care of my gums in 2003. My option by my Dentist was to go to a periodontist or pull out all my upper teeth. I chose to go to Dr. Paris. The work she did was so effective that i got another 12 yrs before having any issues. My gums were still on great shape allowing my Dentist to have a great base for my new teeth. She was so very compassionate and gentle with every thing she did. I never got a chance to thank her because I moved away. If you need work done, I so encourage you to call Dr. Paris. Thank you Dr Paris.

This was my first visit to the office. Everyone was professional, friendly and very helpful. Dr. Allen was great, took the time to explain things and answer any questions I had. Both she and her assistant were able to put me at ease during the visit. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone needing a periodontist.

I was there to have a tooth removed and and implant placed in the area where the tooth was being removed. I was greeted by Renee the Dental Tech and she began the prep for the procedure. She is an amazing person who knows her profession and did an outstanding job. There is a lot of work and technology that is necessary to do this procedure. I was fortunate to have had Renee, who put me at ease and did the prep for the Dentist. Dr. Shumaker did the extraction and the implant. My return appointment with hygienist Gabby and Dr. Jessica Allen was proof, once again, of the value of getting their top-notch care on a regular basis. Their commitment to outstanding service and their knowledge of all the ins-and-outs of this kind of dentistry assure a good outcome. My teeth and gums are much healthier than they were a year ago when I first came to Northern Colorado Periodontics.

My husband and I both had appointments for cleaning on September 22, and, as usual (!) could not have been more pleased with the attention and care we both received. Indeed, we both did leave your office with a smile. Carrie Pfost is a real sweetheart because she always does her job professionally and perfectly and is pleasant and calming all the while she is working. Much appreciated!

This was my penultimate visit to Dr. Nick Shumaker at Northern Colorado Periodontics, and like all the others, it was pleasant, professional, and painless (especially since this was a follow-up and not surgery!). Throughout the year-long process of installing a pair of complicated molar implants in my upper jaw, Dr. Shumaker has clearly explained what he was doing and going to do, why it was necessary to do it in a certain way, and insured it was as comfortable as dental surgery can possibly be. I say that as one who has experienced a total of four different implant procedures involving six teeth altogether and four different oral surgeons. Not only is he the consummate medical professional, but his entire staff reflects the same care and professionalism at every turn. I simply couldn't ask for better treatment or better results. Procedure was quick! I was not as prepared for the actual details of what was done. For example, I didn't realize I would have sutures laced through my teeth to hold the incision line closed. I am SO glad they were able to place a "dressing' over the site to cover the sutures in the floor of my mouth. Post procedure I am doing ok with the discomfort. Thanks for asking !

Went in for a follow up cleaning after my periodontal treatment from 8 months ago and this office is extremely caring in making sure everything is going well. I appreciate all the people that work together from Doctors to receptionist’s as they truly do everything in their power to make it as comfortable and painless as possible.

The staff are talented and highly skilled; preparation and procedures were meticulous. These factors are surely top priorities but while the staff are all business, they also create a relaxed, empathetic and hospitable environment. In this setting, that has a huge benefit for patients but takes considerable additional training, practice and talent. I could not have asked for a better outcome.

At 74, I've visited a lot of dentists and oral surgeons a lot of times. In all those visits, I've yet to find a better one than Dr. Nick Shumaker! In this, my most recent visit, he quickly, and very deftly, completed the installation of two adjacent implants in my upper jaw. Altogether, this required a difficult extraction where none of the tooth extended above my gumline; a "sinus lift" (look it up), a complex procedure necessary to implant an adequate bone graft, and installation of the two actual implants. My most recent visit, and final procedure, was to emplace the temporary caps over the implants. All of these procedures were painless (he's a genius with local anesthetic!), and I experienced absolutely no pain or other adverse effects after the procedures. This clinic has me very highest recommendation!

This was my very first visit, to determine if I needed treatment for being "tongue tied". The Doctor informed me that I need no treatment, and since he spent so little time with me that there would be no charge for this visit, which as a retiree on a fixed income, was sincerely appreciated. I look forward to my next visit scheduled for October.

Everyone is so professional and personal and eager to meet one's needs. I enjoyed being Dr Allen's patient. She might be feel very comfortable and explained everything to me in detail before starting my treatment and at the end of my treatment.
