Zygomatic and Pterygoid Dental Implants

Zygomatic and Pterygoid dental implants are a unique option for the upper jaw when severe bone loss is present.

While regular dental implants anchor in the jaw bone, zygomatic and pterygoid implants anchor in the cheek bone and bone behind the upper jaw. They can allow immediate support of teeth without the need for bone grafting or sinus grafting in situations where severe resorption (dissolving away) of the upper jaw bone has occurred.

Actual Case From Northern Colorado Periodontics Office

Used in combination with the All-On-4® or “teeth in a day” protocol, zygoma and pterygoid dental implants can provide immediate loading of a prosthesis (bridge) on the implants the same day or next day after placement.

Zygomatic and pterygoid implants have over 30 years of research showing high success rates of over 95%. While regular dental implants are shorter at 10-20mm, zygomatic and pterygoid implants are longer at 20-60mm to reach areas of solid bone past where regular dental implants would be able to reach.
